“Pitchers Skenes and Skubal Eye Team Success”

The trophy collections of Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal continue to expand. The next phase for these top baseball pitchers is achieving success with their current teams. Skenes, aged 23, secured the National League Cy Young Award, while Skubal, at 28, clinched the American League’s top pitching prize for the second consecutive year as a key player for the Detroit Tigers. Both expressed their desire for their teams to excel in the upcoming year.

Skubal, in his final year under club control, hopes to remain with the Tigers, but acknowledges the possibility of being traded due to financial considerations. Similarly, Skenes, under team control for the foreseeable future, dismissed rumors of wanting to move on from Pittsburgh and emphasized his commitment to winning with the Pirates.

Despite Pittsburgh’s struggles in the previous season, Skenes, the first overall pick in the 2023 draft, led the league in ERA and strikeouts in his first full MLB season. While his win-loss record was modest, he managed to secure the Cy Young Award. Skubal, on the other hand, received the majority of first-place votes in the AL Cy Young race.

Both Skenes and Skubal were All-Star Game starters and now look forward to the MVP awards ceremony. Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge are among the favorites for the NL and AL MVP titles, respectively, with Judge facing stiff competition from Seattle’s Cal Raleigh.
