“Valerie Maltais Grabs Two Silvers at World Cup Finals”

Canadian speed skater Valerie Maltais secured two silver medals at the World Cup event’s final day on Sunday. Maltais, hailing from Saguenay, Quebec, clinched second place in the women’s mass start with a time of 8 minutes 25.62 seconds. Mia Manganello of the United States claimed gold with a time of 8:25.57, while Ji-Woo Park of South Korea took the bronze in 9:01.80.

In the women’s team pursuit event, Maltais, together with Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann from Ottawa, earned a silver medal with a time of 2:52.40. Japan secured the gold with a time of 2:52.13, and the United States grabbed the bronze with a time of 2:54.01.

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu, representing Sherbrooke, Quebec, clinched a bronze medal in the men’s mass start, the final competition of the day. Gelinas-Beaulieu finished with a time of 7:40.31, trailing behind Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands, who took gold with a time of 7:39.20, and Felix Maly of Germany, who claimed silver with a time of 7:40.17.
