“Canadian Triathlete Sophia Howell Secures Podium Debut”

Canadian triathlete Sophia Howell achieved a milestone on Sunday by clinching a spot on the podium at the World Triathlon Cup for the first time. Hailing from Airdrie, Alberta, Howell completed the sprint-distance race in San Pedro de la Paz, Chile, with a time of one hour, one minute, and 12 seconds. Expressing her excitement, the 23-year-old mentioned that she was pleasantly surprised by her performance and was thrilled about the outcome.

Howell secured the third position, trailing behind Jeanne Lehair from Luxembourg by three seconds and the champion, Miriam Casillas Garcia from Spain, by nine seconds. Another Canadian, Emy Legault from L’Ile Perrot, Quebec, finished in 12th place in the same event.

In the men’s competition, Martin Sobey from Charlottetown emerged as the top Canadian, finishing in 14th place.
