“Rescued Moose ‘Rebel’ Recovers After Heroic Tow Truck Intervention”

Clint Gottinger found himself in an unexpected situation last Saturday when he had to inform his wife to bring blankets as he arrived home with a weary moose on the deck of his tow truck. The owner of Rebel Towing had been heading out for some tow jobs when he noticed a moose in distress near his home in Kelvington, Sask.

Determined to help the stranded animal, Gottinger quickly changed his plans and maneuvered his tow truck close to the moose. Using a soft sling, he carefully pulled the moose out of the icy situation with the assistance of some neighbors.

After successfully freeing the moose by 5:30 p.m., Gottinger took it home to rest and warm up. His wife greeted them with blankets as they arrived. The moose, named “Rebel” after Gottinger’s towing company, was laid on the blankets and allowed Gottinger to provide some comforting scratches.

The next day, the moose regained its strength and eventually wandered off on its own. Gottinger shared the heartwarming rescue story on social media, which garnered significant attention and positive feedback.

Dr. Ryan Brook from the University of Saskatchewan mentioned that the moose, being young and with improving weather conditions, has a good chance of recovery. However, he cautioned that traumatic events like this could lead to health complications, emphasizing the importance of expert guidance during such rescues.

Despite the challenges ahead, Brook remains hopeful for Rebel’s recovery, emphasizing the need for proper care and monitoring to ensure the moose’s well-being.
