SeatGeek Canada Hit with $22.5K in Fines

SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that restricts the resale of event tickets above face value. The fines, totaling $22,500, were disclosed on the province’s consumer protection website earlier this month.

One of the fines, amounting to $15,000, was imposed for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale above the permitted resale price. The second fine, totaling $7,500, was for allegedly failing to disclose the full ticket price when a ticket was purchased from an original seller.

Both SeatGeek Canada and the Ontario government have not provided details on the specific events related to the fines or whether SeatGeek intends to contest the penalties. The company had previously faced fines of $25,000 in August for similar violations.
