Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated to a congressional committee that she could not recall ever meeting Jeffrey Epstein and had no knowledge of his illegal activities. Clinton mentioned that she had never been on Epstein’s plane or visited his properties. After a lengthy deposition before the House of Representatives Oversight Committee in Chappaqua, N.Y., Clinton informed the media that she was repeatedly asked the same questions throughout the day but did not elaborate on her suggestions for the investigation process.
During the deposition, Clinton described the questioning taking an unusual turn towards UFOs and the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy theory. She also accused the committee, led by Republicans, of attempting to divert attention from Donald Trump’s connections to Epstein, highlighting the Trump administration’s actions regarding a State Department office combatting international sex trafficking.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer dismissed the idea of summoning Trump before the panel, stating that Trump had been transparent in releasing documents related to Epstein. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, initially resisted testifying but eventually agreed when faced with possible contempt of Congress. Bill Clinton is set to testify before the committee soon.
Hillary Clinton revealed that her husband would testify that the majority of individuals in contact with Epstein before his 2008 criminal pleas were unaware of the sex trafficking activities. Comer denied partisan motives behind the probe and assured that the transcripts and videos of the Clintons’ interviews would be public.
Representative Robert Garcia, a Democrat on the committee, suggested that Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick should also testify. Garcia accused the Justice Department of selectively withholding documents to shield Trump from scrutiny. The Justice Department clarified that it was reviewing the documents and would release them if deemed appropriate. Law enforcement has not accused Trump of any criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
Bill Clinton’s interactions with Epstein, including traveling on his plane, have come under scrutiny. The Justice Department’s document release unveiled Epstein’s associations with various business and political figures, triggering investigations globally.
