Olympic ice dance champion Guillaume Cizeron has spoken out against his former on-ice partner Gabriella Papadakis, accusing her of spreading falsehoods about him ahead of the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Games. Cizeron, who now skates with Laurence Fournier Beaudry, claims that Papadakis is orchestrating a smear campaign fueled by her upcoming book, “So as Not to Disappear.”
The duo of Papadakis and Cizeron achieved remarkable success in ice dance, setting numerous records and winning multiple championships before ending their partnership in December 2024. However, excerpts from Papadakis’ book, as reported by French media, depict a relationship characterized by imbalance and control, with Papadakis feeling constrained by Cizeron’s demands over time.
Cizeron has expressed disbelief and disagreement with the accusations leveled against him, particularly given the timing just weeks before the Winter Olympics. He has denounced the content of Papadakis’ book, claiming it contains false information and attributions that he vehemently denies making.
In response, Cizeron has instructed his legal team to take action against those involved in spreading defamatory statements about him. Despite the rift in their partnership, he acknowledges the history of collaboration and support shared with Papadakis over the years.
Following their successful debut together at the Grand Prix de France and victory at the Finlandia Trophy, Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry are set to compete as a formidable pair at the upcoming Olympics, solidifying their status as top contenders in the ice dance competition.
