Ten months following the tragic death of Virginia Giuffre, a recently disclosed email lends support to her claim of encountering and being photographed with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Unearthed from over three million Jeffrey Epstein-related documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice, the 2015 email was directed to Epstein and attributed to “G Maxwell,” believed to be Ghislaine Maxwell. The email, labeled “draft statement,” recounts an incident in 2001 in London where Giuffre, whose name is redacted in the released file, purportedly met Prince Andrew and a photo was taken at Maxwell’s residence, as mentioned in the email.
Giuffre had alleged being coerced into intimate encounters with the former prince on multiple occasions, including at Maxwell’s London home in 2001 when she was 17 years old. Despite Mountbatten-Windsor consistently denying the allegations and claiming no recollection of meeting Giuffre, his representatives were contacted for comment by CBC News but had not responded at the time of reporting.
Described as a pivotal piece of evidence by Sky Roberts, Giuffre’s brother, the email’s emergence has been seen as a validating moment. Roberts, along with his wife, Amanda Roberts, emphasized the significance of believing survivors in light of this revelation.
Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, “Nobody’s Girl,” published in October 2025, detailed her accusations against Epstein, Maxwell, and Mountbatten-Windsor. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence in the U.S. for sex trafficking offenses associated with Epstein, her former partner.
In a separate 2015 email to Epstein, Maxwell indicated the need to distance herself and disavow awareness of certain activities, including a massage involving Andrew at her residence. Mountbatten-Windsor, in a 2019 interview with Newsnight, refuted the existence of a photo with Giuffre, asserting his presence at a Pizza Express on the mentioned night.
Having settled a civil sexual assault lawsuit with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability or offering an apology, Mountbatten-Windsor continues to face scrutiny over his past association with Epstein. Stripped of his royal titles and privileges in 2025, including being required to vacate Royal Lodge, questions regarding his ties to Epstein persist within the Royal Family.
Amid calls for a police inquiry voiced by Giuffre’s relatives, Lisa Phillips, another Epstein survivor, urged Mountbatten-Windsor to provide testimony before Congress in the U.S. to shed light on the actions of influential individuals linked to Epstein’s activities. Phillips emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in addressing the misconduct of powerful figures involved in such illicit activities.
