Alabama Stranger’s Generous Act Brightens Nova Scotian Restaurant’s Day

Nova Scotian couple, Darcy and Laura Clarke, were surprised to receive a letter with $40 from a stranger in Alabama to cover an unclaimed order at their restaurant, Bentley’s Burgers and Fries. The sender apologized for mistakenly ordering from the wrong Bentley’s location and expressed regret for the mix-up.

Darcy, who took the order for two cheeseburgers and fries over the phone, realized the mistake when the customer did not show up to claim the food. The couple then gave the order to another customer. The handwritten apology letter, postmarked from Alabama, arrived the next day, along with the cash to cover the cost of the order.

The generous amount sent by the apologetic customer exceeded the order total, prompting the Clarkes to plan on using the extra funds for their ice cream shop in the summer to offer free treats to children in the community.

The couple shared the heartwarming story on Bentley’s Facebook page, receiving an outpouring of support and positive comments from the online community. They aim to reciprocate the kindness by sending a Christmas package to the sender in Alabama, filled with positive messages from social media, stickers, and their signature seasoning.

Amidst ongoing trade tensions, Darcy emphasized the importance of fostering connections with neighbors, expressing love for all, despite the challenges posed by tariffs and international disputes.
