Actor Mike Smith, renowned for his role as Bubbles in the TV series “Trailer Park Boys,” has been accused of sexual assault. The charges were brought against him on October 2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, relating to an alleged incident on December 30, 2017, in Dartmouth. It is important to note that these allegations have yet to be proven in court.
As per court orders, Smith is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, or going to their school, workplace, or residence. In response to the situation, Trailer Park Boys Inc. disclosed that Smith has temporarily withdrawn from his position as the company’s managing director.
The company emphasized its commitment to taking the allegation seriously, stating, “We are aware of the accusation against Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and treat such matters with gravity.” Trailer Park Boys Inc. refrained from further comment to respect the legal process.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the company remains dedicated to delivering the eagerly awaited 13th season of the show to its loyal fanbase. Smith, along with co-stars Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay, has been a prominent figure in the TV series since its debut in 2001, gaining global recognition.
In a previous incident in 2016, Smith faced charges of misdemeanor domestic battery in Los Angeles, which were later dropped due to insufficient evidence. Smith is scheduled to appear in court in Halifax on Monday.
The long-running success of “Trailer Park Boys” has garnered a dedicated following and aired on various platforms worldwide, including Netflix and Crave, along with the show’s exclusive streaming service. The trio of actors, including Smith, acquired the rights to the franchise in 2013.
