“LA28 Unveils Record-Breaking Paralympic Schedule”

Los Angeles unveiled the preliminary competition schedule for the 2028 Paralympic Games, celebrating 1,000 days until the event. The organizing committee for LA28 disclosed that the Games will showcase a record number of sports, sessions, and medals, with 23 sports and 560 medal events spread over 294 sessions. This schedule was crafted in collaboration with international federations and Olympic Broadcasting Services to ensure a balance between athlete well-being and global broadcast opportunities.

Ileana Rodriguez, LA28’s vice president of Paralympic strategy and relations, emphasized that the Games are athlete-centric, aiming to cater to both participants and the global audience. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed pride in hosting the city’s inaugural Paralympic Games, highlighting the increased representation of female athletes on the world stage.

Scheduled to kick off on August 15, 2028, at SoFi Stadium, the 2028 Paralympics will culminate on August 27 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The first day of competition will see the crowning of Paralympic champions in various disciplines including Para athletics, wheelchair fencing, shooting Para sport, Para equestrian, and Para track cycling.

Excitingly, the 2028 Paralympics will witness the debut of Para climbing over a four-day span starting from Day 9. Additionally, wheelchair rugby and sitting volleyball will feature extended formats with play-in rounds. Detailed event schedules are anticipated to be revealed in 2026 as the countdown to this momentous occasion continues.
