“Recall Alert: Milwaukee Chainsaws Pose Laceration Hazard”

A chainsaw has recently been recalled in both Canada and the United States due to a potential laceration hazard. Owners of the Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL 12” and 14’’ top handle chainsaws are advised to cease using them immediately, as per a safety alert issued by federal authorities. The safety concern arises from the chain brake’s failure to halt the chain’s movement when activated, posing a risk of lacerations.

Milwaukee has identified that chainsaws with the letter “A” as the fourth character in their serial number are the ones affected by this issue. No incidents or injuries related to this problem have been reported in Canada as of October 21. However, the company has received reports of one laceration incident in the U.S. and two related incidents.

Individuals in possession of the affected chainsaws are urged to contact the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation to arrange a free repair. To initiate the repair process, owners can register their tool on Milwaukee Tool’s eService Tool Support website and receive a prepaid shipping label for sending in their chainsaw.

For further assistance, individuals can reach out to the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation at 833-953-2012 between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. The recall was a collaborative effort involving Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation.
