“Drake Drops Triple Surprise: Albums ‘Iceman,’ ‘Habibti,’ ‘Maid of Honour'”

After dropping hints with mysterious promotions like a massive ice block display in downtown Toronto and taking over the CN Tower, Drake finally unveiled his ninth studio album, titled Iceman, along with two surprise albums, Habibti and Maid of Honour, all released simultaneously at midnight. The surprise albums were revealed at the conclusion of Drake’s recent livestream event, Iceman Episode 4, where he premiered a total of 43 songs totaling approximately two and a half hours, with Iceman being the main focus.

Drake had been hinting at Iceman since August 2024, following a well-publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. During his tour in Australia in 2025, Drake shared with fans that the album would serve as a personal and meaningful connection with his audience.

This release marks Drake’s first solo albums since 2023’s For all the Dogs. With his status as a prominent figure in the rap scene and his pursuit of breaking Michael Jackson’s No. 1 song record, expectations are soaring high after his contentious encounter with Lamar.

In the opening track of Iceman, titled Make Them Cry, Drake delves into the aftermath of his feud with Lamar and its effects on him. Throughout the album, Drake addresses the feud and takes shots at various figures, including Lamar, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James, and Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, while also reflecting on his relationship with J. Cole.

The album features references to past events, such as the feud-triggering song First Person Shooter with J. Cole, and Lamar’s response on Future’s track Like That. Additionally, Drake pays homage to Oakland rapper Mac Dre on 2 Hard 4 the Radio, incorporating elements from Mac Dre’s music.

Drake’s music videos for Iceman highlight various Toronto landmarks, showcasing iconic locations like Sotto Sotto and the CN Tower. The visuals also include scenes filmed at Toronto’s City Hall and incorporate Canadian symbols and references, emphasizing Drake’s connection to his home country.

Apart from addressing his feud and grievances on Iceman, Drake’s surprise albums Habibti and Maid of Honour offer a diverse musical exploration. Habibti delves into love songs with a twist, while Maid of Honour explores dancehall, house, Afro-swing, and U.K. rap genres, catering to a more celebratory and lively atmosphere.

With collaborations with various artists, including Central Cee, Popcaan, and Stunna Sandy, Maid of Honour is tailored for summer parties and sets a vibrant tone for the summer of 2026. Each album showcases a different side of Drake’s artistry, from introspective storytelling to energetic party anthems.
