Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara Co-Writes Marvel Comic

Tegan Quin, part of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic focuses on the well-known gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and their families, emphasizing the significance of community and relationships during challenging periods.

In Quin’s narrative, illustrated by Luciano Vecchio, the story revolves around twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to confront Ultron while navigating their distinct paths as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for Marvel, particularly about these characters, stating, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.”

“Wiccan & Hulking” will also showcase contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Quin, residing in Vancouver, is additionally endorsing Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.

Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select one book for the entire nation to read. They engage in discussions and eliminate one book per day until a winner is chosen. This year’s Canada Reads will occur from April 13 to 16.

Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have unveiled 10 studio albums, featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their musical achievements include selling over a million records, receiving Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and Grammy Awards.

In 2019, the duo transitioned from songwriting to authorship with their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel duology “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” with illustrations by Tillie Walden. They established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to advocate for and support 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
