Schneider Leads Blue Jays to Manager of the Year Contention

Two days after their World Series defeat, John Schneider emerges as a top contender for Manager of the Year accolade for leading the Toronto Blue Jays to the pinnacle of the American League. The winner of the prestigious regular-season award, determined by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, is scheduled for announcement on November 11. Among the other finalists vying for the honor are Dan Wilson of the Seattle Mariners and Stephen Vogt of the Cleveland Guardians.

Schneider, in his fourth year as manager and third full season, orchestrated a remarkable resurgence for the franchise after Toronto had finished at the bottom of the AL East with a 74-88 record in 2024. In 2025, the Blue Jays turned things around significantly, achieving a formidable 94-68 record and clinching the division title through a tiebreaker with the New York Yankees by triumphing over the Tampa Bay Rays 13-4 in their final regular-season game.

The team’s exhilarating postseason journey ensued, with Toronto triumphing over the Yankees in a four-game division series and the Mariners in a challenging seven-game championship series before ultimately succumbing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a closely contested seven-game World Series showdown.
