In 2027, the Grey Cup game will make a return to Regina, marking the second time in five years that the CFL final will be hosted in the capital city and home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

During the announcement on Monday, Premier Scott Moe expressed excitement about showcasing the strong fan base and community pride for the Saskatchewan football team once again in 2027.

Craig Reynolds, the president of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, acknowledged the crucial support from the City of Regina and the province in securing the 2027 Grey Cup, emphasizing that in Saskatchewan, they have a tradition of hosting Grey Cups successfully.

The City of Regina, as confirmed by a spokesperson for Mayor Chad Bachynski, has allocated $1.5 million for the Grey Cup, covering cash and in-kind contributions such as transit shuttle services and police assistance. Bachynski highlighted the welcoming atmosphere in Regina, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees at the 2027 Grey Cup.

The upcoming Grey Cup event, scheduled for November 7, 2027, will be the fifth championship hosted in Regina and the second to take place at the new Mosaic Stadium. The Roughriders have a history of hosting the championship game, with the most recent one being in 2022.

In anticipation of hosting the Grey Cup, the Roughriders face high expectations, particularly after their 2013 victory on home turf against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 2027 Grey Cup festival is set to be held entirely indoors for the first time, offering a unique experience to attendees. CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston praised the collaborative efforts of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the province, the City of Regina, and local hotel operators in securing the bid, emphasizing the strong football culture in Saskatchewan.

Johnston highlighted the exceptional quality of Saskatchewan’s bid package, which set it apart from other contenders. The decision to host the festival indoors was a key selling point, providing a comfortable and enjoyable environment for all participants throughout the day.

The 2027 Grey Cup promises to be a significant event, building on the rich football tradition and community spirit in Saskatchewan.
