“Marko Milanovic Named Northern Super League Coach of the Year”

AFC Toronto’s Marko Milanovic has been recognized as the Coach of the Year in the Northern Super League. Milanovic guided Toronto to the top spot in the standings during the league’s debut season, boasting a commendable 16-6-3 record. Toronto accumulated 51 points, finishing a notable 12 points ahead of their closest rivals, Ottawa Rapid and Vancouver Rise, who both ended the season with 39 points.

The award selection process involved a vote among the six NSL coaches, with each coach prohibited from voting for themselves. This voting system resembled the procedure used for end-of-year awards where players vote for their fellow players.

Toronto excelled in goal-scoring within the six-team league, netting 42 goals, and secured the second spot in goals conceded, narrowly trailing behind Montreal.

Toronto’s playoff journey commences with an away game against Montreal this Saturday in the first leg of the semifinals, while Vancouver will host Ottawa next Tuesday.

Before his tenure with Toronto, Milanovic amassed over ten years of coaching experience with North Toronto Soccer, including leading the team in League1 Ontario. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach at Toronto Metropolitan University.
