Three individuals who accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have reached a settlement for their civil claims before the trial at the High Court in London, according to court records. The accusers claimed that the Oscar-winning actor had abused them between 2000 and 2013, while Spacey has consistently denied the accusations. Scheduled civil trials were halted by Judge Christina Lambert, who stated that the parties had agreed on the terms of the settlement. The specifics of the settlement were not disclosed, and no ruling on costs was issued by the judge. The court order, issued on Friday, was made public on Wednesday. Spacey’s representatives have been contacted for a response.
In 2023, Spacey faced trial in London for nine alleged sex offenses against four men and was acquitted of all charges. Two of the anonymous civil claimants provided testimony during Spacey’s criminal trial. Additionally, Spacey successfully defended himself in a $40 million US civil lawsuit in New York in 2022 filed by actor Anthony Rapp from “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Once a highly acclaimed actor, Spacey’s career suffered setbacks due to sexual abuse allegations. He starred in notable films such as “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “L.A. Confidential,” and the TV series “House of Cards.” Spacey received an Academy Award for best supporting actor in the 1995 film “The Usual Suspects” and a lead actor Oscar for “American Beauty” in 1999. He served as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015. While Spacey mentioned finding work in recent years, his roles have primarily been in smaller films or stage productions rather than the mainstream Hollywood projects he was known for before the allegations surfaced.
