“George Springer Set to Return for Blue Jays in World Series Game 6”

George Springer is expected to rejoin the Toronto Blue Jays’ lineup for Game 6 of the World Series on Friday night. Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that Springer has completed most of the necessary steps to be cleared to play in the crucial game. Toronto is currently leading the series 3-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Schneider mentioned during a press conference that Springer needs to feel comfortable and confident not just for one at-bat but to be fully engaged in the game. Despite being sidelined for the previous game due to a midsection injury sustained in Game 3, Springer has been progressing well physically.

The 36-year-old Springer, who primarily served as a designated hitter this season, had an exceptional regular season, hitting .309 with 32 home runs and 84 RBIs. In the playoffs, he has been battling various injuries but has managed to contribute with a .246 batting average, four home runs, and nine RBIs.

Both teams conducted optional workouts at Rogers Centre upon their return to Canada, with Schneider providing updates on Springer’s status. The Blue Jays arrived in Toronto early in the morning and faced traffic delays, resulting in a late arrival at the stadium.

In a potential Game 7, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is contemplating utilizing Shohei Ohtani as an opener or even in the outfield. Ohtani, a two-way star, threw 93 pitches in Game 4 and could be deployed as a reliever during the upcoming games in Toronto.

Roberts expressed his intention to explore all possibilities with Ohtani to strategize for the series. Ohtani, known for his versatility, has excelled both as a hitter and a pitcher, showcasing his talent in the post-season.

Ohtani’s potential role as a reliever would require tactical considerations due to the rules regarding designated hitters in Major League Baseball. Despite the challenges, both teams are gearing up for an intense Game 6 showdown with the World Series title on the line.
