Félix Auger-Aliassime Withdraws from Moselle Open

Canadian tennis sensation Félix Auger-Aliassime has decided to withdraw from the ongoing Moselle Open due to a knee injury, a move aimed at safeguarding his well-being but potentially jeopardizing his entry into the prestigious ATP Finals. The 25-year-old athlete hailing from Montreal made the tough decision to skip the tournament in Metz, France, one of the two ATP 250 events taking place this week. Auger-Aliassime’s choice to rest comes on the heels of an intense journey to the final of the Paris Masters, culminating in a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (4) defeat against the top-ranked player, Jannik Sinner, this past Sunday. Throughout the tournament, Auger-Aliassime staged comebacks in his initial three matches and engaged in five tiebreakers.

His commendable performance boosted his ATP ranking to No. 8, surpassing Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the race for a coveted spot in the ATP Finals, set to begin in Turin, Italy, this Sunday. Meanwhile, Musetti is currently competing in the Hellenic Championship in Athens and must clinch victory in the event to reclaim the ATP Finals berth from Auger-Aliassime. With a season record of 48 wins and 22 losses, including three titles, Auger-Aliassime has now re-entered the top eight rankings for the first time since April 10, 2023.
