Cardi B is serious about her Canadian fans, especially those in Hamilton. The Grammy Award-winning rapper, currently on her Little Miss Drama Tour across North America, expressed concern that while many tour dates are selling out, the Hamilton show on Mar. 31 is not meeting the same demand.
In a now-deleted Instagram story post, Cardi B playfully warned her fans in Hamilton that if they break her streak of sold-out shows, there will be consequences. She urged them to purchase tickets to avoid disappointment.
Cardi B noted that most tour dates are nearly sold out, with only about 80% of tickets sold for the Hamilton show at TD Coliseum. Ticketmaster maps show a significant number of available seats for the Hamilton date compared to limited availability for a Toronto show the day before.
Despite efforts to verify the ticket sales percentages, Ticketmaster has not responded to inquiries from CBC News. As of the latest update, direct sale tickets for the Hamilton show were priced at around $118, while prices for the Toronto show were higher.
Earlier tour stops in various cities, including Los Angeles, Detroit, and Vancouver, were all sold out. Cardi B’s success in selling out multiple consecutive shows has made her a trailblazer in the industry.
While Cardi B’s warning to fans may have sparked interest, Hamilton’s mayor, Andrea Horwath, emphasized the city’s love for music and live events. Local artist Leon (Eklipz) Robinson believes that factors like rising living costs may influence fans’ ticket-buying decisions.
Despite some challenges, Robinson remains optimistic that Cardi B’s callout will boost ticket sales and potentially lead to a sold-out show in Hamilton. Cardi B is scheduled to perform in Chicago and New York City before concluding her tour with stops in Toronto and Hamilton.
