Barry Manilow, aged 82, revealed on Monday that he will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous spot found on his lung, leading to the rescheduling of his January concerts. The cancerous spot was detected following a prolonged period of bronchitis, lasting six weeks initially and then recurring for another five weeks.
Manilow shared on Instagram that an MRI, ordered by his doctor as a precaution, identified the cancerous spot on his left lung. Fortunately, the early detection allowed for prompt action. The singer expressed gratitude for the fortunate discovery and praised his doctor’s vigilance.
According to a statement from Manilow’s team, the identified spot is categorized as a stage one tumor, and the surgery is scheduled for late December. Consequently, Manilow will be on a recovery break throughout January. He plans to resume his performances with Valentine’s weekend concerts starting on Feb. 12 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, followed by the continuation of his arena concerts on Feb. 28 in Tampa, Florida.
Originally, Manilow was set to hold ten concerts in January across nine locations in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Ohio. These shows have now been moved to February to accommodate his recovery schedule.
