An Ontario judge has rejected billionaire Frank Stronach’s attempt to dismiss his committal for trial on one of the twelve charges in his Toronto sexual assault case. Stronach, aged 93, is facing trial on a dozen charges stemming from alleged incidents dating back many years. Despite a challenge by his legal team regarding one specific charge, the motion was turned down after arguments from both the defense and the Crown.
Further pre-trial motions are slated for this month, leading up to a trial to be decided by a judge alone, expected to commence in February.
Stronach, who has refuted all accusations against him, is also set for a separate trial in Newmarket, Ontario, later in 2026 after the case was bifurcated last year. Peel Regional Police have levied 18 charges against Stronach, the founder of the auto parts behemoth Magna, involving 13 complainants across Ontario. These allegations include sexual assault and indecent assault.
Due to a standard publication ban, none of the complainants can be named publicly.
