Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced Canada’s collaboration with India and Australia on cutting-edge technologies during the G20 summit in South Africa. The trilateral partnership is focused on enhancing supply chain diversity, promoting clean energy usage, and advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence.
This strategic move signifies Canada’s efforts to rebuild its ties with India following recent tensions stemming from allegations by the RCMP linking New Delhi to crimes against Canadian nationals. The three nations have unveiled the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership (ACITI) to leverage their respective strengths in green energy innovation and resilient supply chain development, particularly in critical minerals.
A joint statement issued on Saturday morning detailed the partnership’s commitment to exploring artificial intelligence applications for enhancing citizens’ quality of life. Plans are in place for officials from the three countries to convene in the first quarter of 2026 to propel the initiative forward.
At the G20 summit in Johannesburg, Carney and other world leaders endorsed a collective declaration, despite the absence of the U.S. delegation. The declaration addresses key global issues such as climate change, women’s rights, and the Middle East, areas where the previous U.S. administration had shown resistance throughout the year.
