Bieber received four nods for his surprise album “Swag,” contending for best pop vocal album and album of the year. This marks Bieber’s fifth nomination in the pop vocal album category, tying with Justin Timberlake. Additionally, his tracks “Daisies” and “Yukon” are nominated for best pop solo performance and best R&B performance, respectively.
Renowned Halifax producer Cirkut leads the Canadian nominees with seven nominations, including producer of the year, non-classical, for his work on various albums like Lady Gaga’s “Mayhem” and Ed Sheeran’s “Play.” Notably, Cirkut is also up for record of the year for tracks on Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” and Bruno Mars and Rosé’s “Apt,” as well as album of the year for “Mayhem” and best dance pop recording for “Abracadabra.”
Calgary’s pop sensation Tate McRae earned her first Grammy nomination for best dance pop recording with her track “Just Keep Watching” from the “F1” soundtrack, which is also nominated for best compilation soundtrack for visual media.
Vancouver’s Tobias Jesso Jr., a previous Grammy winner, received a nomination for songwriter of the year, non-classical, for his contributions to various tracks, including work on Bieber’s “Swag,” Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need,” and Haim’s “Relationships.”
Furthermore, audio engineer Serban Ghenea, a multiple Grammy winner, secured six nominations, including record of the year for his work on Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”
Drake, returning to the Grammy nominations after his last nod in 2024, is nominated for best melodic rap performance with PartyNextDoor for their collaboration “Somebody Loves Me.” However, The Weeknd did not receive any nominations despite ending his Grammy boycott with his latest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” falling within the eligibility window.
