“Milan Cortina Winter Athletes to Stay in Unique Mobile Village”

Winter athletes participating in the upcoming Milan Cortina Games will be housed in a temporary Athletes Village in Cortina d’Ampezzo, which offers simple accommodations in 377 rented mobile homes. The village, located in a quiet area about a 10-minute drive from downtown Cortina, will provide a unique experience close to the Dolomites.

The Italian government commissioner overseeing infrastructure for the Games, Fabio Saldini, highlighted the temporary nature of the village, emphasizing that everything will be removed post-event, leaving an improved environment. While some countries like Norway opt for hotel accommodations for their athletes, others such as the U.S., Germany, and Italy plan to utilize the village facilities.

The Athletes Village features rooms with basic amenities, including individual bathrooms and showers. Athletes can expect personalized heating controls in each room, ensuring comfort during their stay. The village also offers common areas like a gym, game room, offices, and a laundromat.

Despite the simplicity of the accommodations, the Athletes Village provides a unique opportunity to be close to nature, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Following the conclusion of the Games, the mobile homes will be repurposed at camping sites across Italy, with some earmarked for a local hockey club in Brunico.
